This may be a trivial question for many. Statistically buying a home get's expensive after many years renting. First of all, you are paying the owner mortgage and he or she get's the benefit of writing it off on their taxes. However many have to start out renting to save for a down payment, I recommend once you made up your mind to buy, you can put your tax return aside to help, sacrifice going in debt for Christmas. Homeownership allows you to start building equity, home values typically rise over time and you payoff your mortgage you build equity.
