Veterans Association Real Estate Professional aka (VAREP).

This is a national non profit 501 3-c organization with chapters in many states across the country and can see what VAREP accomplish. We are the advocates, voices and ears for our veterans when it comes to purchasing a home to Congress.

In 2018 June 3-5 2018 we held a National Policy Conference in Washington DC and it was announced and approved for a VA box added on the lender application for veterans to check for type loan. Bank of America SVP was in attendance and announced that they were giving away 1900-200 homes to disabled veterans meeting requirements.  Prior this conference I was working with a disabled veteran with PTSD for a few years helping on rentals and homeless on several occasions.

I was almost in shock understanding that he met all these requirements and exceeded as well!

I encouraged him to buy a home and applied and was disappointed upon finding out that there were issues on his credit report that could be cleared up by August 9th that year. Once back I helped him apply for a home, nine days later he was approved! Unfortunately the home needs to be issued in the same state where the veteran resides. At that time there was no home in Florida.  There was a home ready in Fayetteville with no qualified member. However after vetting Bernie they told him that he would be waived if he desired home. He finally accepted and they flew his family up there on Aug 8th. He called me after he was settled and speaking with Corporate VAREP and Founder from BOA Veteran Program. He told me that he was talking to absolute strangers and still did not believe it until he picked me up from the airport. I finally arrived and he picked me up.  We had dinner that night with Corporate VAR and BOA founder of program.

After dinner I felt like we knew each other for over 20 years!

The next morning 9am, I went out community outreaching knocking on doors explaining to residents on what was about to happen in a few hours. I even saw a cop with a radar gun and mentioned to him, he radioed back to headquarters for a few cars to come and witness event.  At that time you can hear the 40 motorcycle arcade with the American and marine flag flying escorting the family in while media was eagerly waiting. It felt like my blood was rushing through his veins and his blood through mine!

He mentioned to me in another way he can't process all this and now wont believe it until his wife tell him take out the garbage. I could not wait to get back home to sleep on this and wake up to see if this was all a dream. rolling down the runway I did not think the plane was going to get off the runway, because my heart was so heavy. 

The morale to the story is that he got the keys to his mortgage free home on the same day the lender was going to approve him for their home to buy!   In summary this has never happened so fast in VAREP, 90 days from approval he received the keys to his mortgage free home. The icing on the cake was that he was already his own advocate for Veterans doing the same work we were already doing with many facebook group followers, attorneys and generals.
