While living in Central Florida there is so much to do! Why not take a field trip to the Kennedy Space Center, which is 45 minutes from Central Florida. So much history in space that will fill your cup! You can purchase annual passes, many have said you must experience this with the entire family. As we know, the space shuttle program has retired in 2011 and Space X has taken on the task to continue space exploration.
Fortunately, I was a scheduler for the space shuttle program before I retired, one of the last mission's was to repair the telescope Hubble was flown by the Atlantis STS-125 with pilot Scooter Altman which is now hanging inside! This was so exciting to be working in the Hub while stationed at Cape Canaveral. You have the opportunity to meet many retired astronauts and ask all types of questions on your visit. One experience you can venture is understanding what astronaut, training is all about.
Many more attractions are right there, such as the astronaut hall of fame, bus tour, the firing room, exploring the moon, control center, dinner with an astronaut, lunar theater, shuttle launch experience and so much more to enjoy. You have hands on to practice docking and a spacewalk with today's technology while staying on the ground! This is generally about a 4.5 hour program for a nominal fee for about 175.00. One of the last shuttle launches The Space X, Falcon 9 has many stages of testing until a manned capsule is added hopefully in 2023. A number of series, for several launches has been successfully attempted. The Space X program brought into existence through Elon Musk in 2011 right after the shuttle program retired, and a man that loves speed. So while living here in Central Florida or just visiting, you must stop by for a piece of history for you and family to learn.
